Former Activision MD Geoff Heath OBE and former PlayStation Marketing Director Mark Hardy have today announced the launch of their brand new VR studio, Maze Theory. Together with leading London creative agency, Output Group they have launched the innovative, platform-agnostic gaming studio which they claim is set to redefine the virtual reality experience.
The renowned industry experts behind the new studio are working to formulate and design extraordinary VR experiences – with its first game ‘The Vanishing Act’ already at alpha stage.
Who are the people behind Maze Theory?
With more than forty years experience, Geoff Heath OBE, will be joining Maze Theory as a Non-Exec board member. Geoff founded and ran Activision as European MD, created the UK’s first computer games degree course and was awarded an OBE for his service to the computer games industry.
Joining Heath as a Non-Exec will be Dr. David Ranyard, former Director of Sony’s London Studio where he oversaw the brands venture into virtual reality through the creation of Sony VR.
Mark Hardy, former European Marketing Director for PlayStation will sit on the Maze Theory board. With experience spanning the computer games, film, and music industries, Mark was responsible for marketing PlayStation 2, launching PS3 and the PlayStation Network as well as developing SingStar as part of a broader social gaming strategy.
Drawing on his experience of running one of London’s leading creative agencies, Ian Hambleton, Founder of Studio Output and global creative network, Glug Events, will take on the role of CEO at Maze Theory.
Marcus Moresby will be joining from award-winning content studio Found as Creative Director.

The studio’s inaugural release, The Vanishing Act, is currently in alpha phase with Maze Theory currently undergoing a round of funding to in order to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s expected from a VR experience.
