The upcoming horror reboot Candyman was supposed to have been released this month but like so many movies over the past few months, the release date has been pushed to later in the year. The film will now arrive in September, but while we wait, a new teaser has arrived.
The new Candyman trailer mixes clips from the powerful animated Candyman prologue that was released earlier this month, with new footage. A voiceover from co-star Colman Domingo states that “Candyman is how we deal with the fact that these things happen. That they’re still happening.” We also see footage of hooks, bees, and blood. Check it out below:
The new Candyman is directed by Nia DaCosta and produced by Jordan Peele. It’s actually a sequel to Bernard Rose’s 1992 original, which was based on a Clive Barker story. It stars Aquaman’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as a man who returns to the former Chicago housing project of Cabrini Green, where the legend of Candyman still persists. The movie also stars Teyonah Parris and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett. The return of Tony Todd to the role as Candyman has never been officially confirmed, but his voice can be heard at the end of this latest teaser.
