In a statement issued on December 31, Impractical Jokers franchise series star Joe Gatto announced he is leaving the comedy troupe The Tenderloins after a decade-long run. Gatto cited issues in his personal life–including a separation from his wife–as a factor in his decision.
“I will no longer be involved with Impractical Jokers,” writes Gatto on Instagram. “I have to step away. Bessy and I have decided to amicably part ways, so now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids… As I work through the challenges I am facing, I hope to and am excited to create new ways to entertain you.”

Following the news, the remaining Tenderloins members also issued a statement on Instagram, posted from member Brian Quinn’s account and signed by the other remaining members of the group, which are now James Murray and Sal Vulcano. The trio said, “After all these years together, we never imagined making Impractical Jokers without Joe. While we are saddened to see him go, we want to keep people laughing, keep our relationship with the Impractical Jokers fans going, and keep working with the members of our team that we consider family.”
