Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Superbad helped cement Rogen as a contemporary comedy icon and catapult the careers of stars Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Emma Stone. Its most famous moment is easily the creation of the false identity of the McLovin character. Today, Rogen acknowledged the occasion by “wishing” McLovin a happy birthday.

Superbad came out in 2007 and was a box office hit, spawning loads of McLovin merchandise from t-shirts, to the actual replica fake IDs that look just like the one in the movie. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg started the script when they were in high school, with them even naming the main characters after themselves.
In the years since the name McLovin has been homaged and dropped in several hip hop songs going back to Whiz Khalifa’s “Be Easy” to “Stunnin” by Curtis Waters and even Kanye West’s “I Love It”. What up, gangstas indeed.
