Nintendo surprised Paper Mario fans with an unexpected game announcement on May 14. Paper Mario: The Origami King releases for Switch on July 17, and the news comes with a debut trailer that you can watch right here. As with the other entries in the series, it’s developed by the veterans at Intelligent Systems.
Featuring a new ring-based battle system that mixes puzzle-solving skills with traditional turn-based combat, Paper Mario: The Origami King aims to put new twists in the series’ established formula.
Princess Peach is acting strangely, and the game’s papercraft world has fallen into disarray because of a malicious figure named King Olly. Even Bowser’s own minions are forced to work for the new monarch. Bowser isn’t having that, so he’s even offered his assistance to Mario.
