2011’s Hugh Jackman movie Real Steel, which featured an advertisement for the Xbox 720, is set to become a TV series, according to a new report. Collider heard from sources that Disney is in “early development” on a new Real Steel show for Disney+.
The key players from the original movie had to sign new deals for the TV series, according to the report. Those contracts are now finalized and Disney is looking for a writer now, the report said.
Real Steel was directed by Shawn Levy before he worked on Stranger Things and Free Guy more recently. Jackman plays a father who is re-connecting with his son through robot-fighting. Anthony Mackie, Evangeline Lilly, and Hope Davis also starred in the film, which made more than $299 million globally.
