Netflix has canceled Jupiter’s Legacy after the first season debuted on May 7. According to Deadline, the cast has been released from their obligations and contracts to the series. Instead, the franchise will pivot to become an anthology.

In closing that door, Netflix has also opened a window–Deadline is also reporting that the streaming service has greenlit a live-action adaptation of Supercrooks, which goes deeper into Millar’s world of super-villains featured in Jupiter’s Legacy. Said Millar, “We’re confident we’ll return to [Jupiter’s Legacy], which could come back in a different iteration. Netflix also has an anime adaptation of Supercrooks on the way, so this all amounts to a lot of great news and content for Supercrooks fans.

Jupiter’s Legacy star Andrew Horton (Doctors, It Came from the Desert), however, took to Instagram to express why he thinks this isn’t such great news. “I’m gutted,” Horton wrote. “Jupiter’s Legacy was a once in a lifetime experience, and one I will never forget. I’m sad and sorry that we don’t get to continue this journey. I feel as though we had barely scratched the surface.” Horton’s co-star Leslie Bibb (Iron Man 2, The League) also took to Instagram to share similar sentiments, saying she “will miss wholeheartedly” the rest of the cast and crew.
