Netflix’s period drama The Last Kingdom is coming to an end. The streaming company has confirmed that the upcoming fifth season will be its last.
The historical series about a warrior in the ninth-century England is based on Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories novels, and it was first available on the BBC before it moved to Netflix years ago.

Season 5 is currently shooting in Hungary, and there are 10 episodes planned. Producer Nigel Marchant teased that not every character will survive the events of the final season. The show focuses on the warrior Uhtred, who is played by Alexander Dreymon.
