Actor and comedian Kevin Hart’s new drama Fatherhood has moved from Sony Pictures to Netflix and it will release on, you guessed it, Father’s Day.
Variety reports that the film was originally set for a theatrical debut on April 16, but Sony Pictures decided to cut a deal with Netflix to bring it to streaming instead. According to the report, the licensing deal covers Netflix markets except for China.
The report said about 50% of US theaters remain closed due to the pandemic, so it appears Sony Pictures anticipated the film having a tough time theatrically so it made a deal with Netflix. The film is now slated to open on June 18 on Netflix.
